Here are a few municipal apps already available in Fulcrum
The historic building survey app can be used by municipalities while taking a historic resources assessment or other similar tasks. The app allows users to document all of the necessary historical information such as year built, original owner, usage, reason of significance, etc. It also documents architectural features and materials used.
The Hazardous Tree Report app allows tree managers or municipal public services agencies to mark the locations of trees that need pruning or removal, as they could be a hazard to nearby structures or features if they fall. Information can be reported about branch and trunk health, nearby features in danger of damage, as well as tree size.
The Park Maintenance app is designed to survey features within a public park such as restrooms, docks, picnic tables, sidewalks, etc, as well as the ability to document where repair or maintenance is needed. With this app, you can capture photos and notes while on site to better document exactly which features need attention.
Already have data? We make it easy to import and modify existing GIS Data.
Step 1: Prepare your data for import
To import data into Fulcrum, it needs to be point data in CSV format. Be sure that the table has latitude and longitude fields. To convert your data to CSV format, simply save it as a CSV file in QGIS.
Step 2: Import your data into Fulcrum.
Follow the steps of the import wizard to bring your data into Fulcrum. During the import, toggle on ‘read only’ for all of the fields, since data collectors will not need to edit this information.
Step 3: Edit your app
Importing your records automatically generates the first part of the app. To prepare this portion of the app for this use case, arrange these fields into a section.
Add a second section to create the damage assessment portion of the app. In this section you can add fields for assessing the level of damage, documenting specifically what types of damage has occurred, and adding pictures. You can also add a status field to keep track of repairs.
Step 4: Make changes from the field
Once you have finished editing the app, it can instantly be deployed to the field. Data collectors will need to download the existing records to their device. Once this has been done, they will simply need to tap the records to enter the information.
