We are constantly on the lookout for mobile apps that will help Fulcrum users accomplish more with less. One such app that caught our eye is RoomScan. This app allows you to map out floor plans using your iPhone in just a matter of minutes (no Android version as of yet). RoomScan functions differently than other floor plan apps on the market. If you have a need to capture floor plans or indoor maps quickly and accurately, this app would be a great companion to Fulcrum. Once your floor plan or room plan is generated using RoomScan, the plan can be added to your Fulcrum app and saved to a record as you would an image.
RoomScan
RoomScan creates floor plans by just tapping your phone or tablet against each wall. It’s not accurate down to the millimeter, but it does work and surprisingly well. They don’t claim ultra-precise, but the app does calculate to the nearest half a foot. If you want more accuracy, you can manually edit walls measurements just by tapping on the screen.
While the free version handles the basics pretty well, you’ll probably find it very limiting and it would be worth it to splurge on RoomScan Pro ($4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99).
There is a learning curve to RoomScan, however within about thirty minutes of use I had mastered all the functions. Once I figured it out, it took me about 45 minutes to build a floor plan for my two story house. I was able to create images in my phone’s photo library of individual room plans and the each floor plan layout.

If you are in need of making easy, quick, and accurate floor plans to use within Fulcrum, RoomScan is certainly a good solution. As of today it is the best app for floor plans on the market hands down.
