Help Us Promote Tourism in Cairo, Egypt with Fulcrum Community

August 23, 2018 by Sam Puckett

The rise of tourism in Egypt, coupled with a lack of information about certain areas of interest, has created an opportunity for the GIS community. That’s why Spatial Networks is seeking volunteer data collectors in Cairo for a special project using Fulcrum Community.

Fulcrum Community Cairo

Tourists visiting Egypt for the first time want to know what to expect before they arrive: Where should they eat? What time do restaurants open? Where can they buy personal items? What’s the neighborhood like around their hotel?

If you’re living in Cairo, you can help increase tourists’ confidence and the improve the quality of their trip by participating in this unique project. With your knowledge of the area, you’ll be able to share some of the lesser-known spots they can visit to gain a true Egyptian experience that makes them want to return again and again.

All you need is a smartphone or tablet!

To contribute, visit the project page and create a Fulcrum Community account. Then download the Fulcrum app on your mobile device, navigate to one of the buildings indicated, and complete the records for that location.

Download complete instructions here.

We’ll be collecting information and photos for tourist attractions, restaurants, and other businesses that could be of interest to visitors to the beautiful city of Cairo.

With your help, first-time visitors will enjoy an amazing experience, prompting return visits and even more tourism as those visitors share their stories with friends and families.
