Utilities have gotten very good at pinpointing where vegetation risk lives on their systems. Lidar, grid characteristics, outage history, and fuel conditions can now rank an entire system span by span. Precision at that level gives utilities a sharper path to grid resilience than any four-year cycle could offer.
Acting on the ranking is the hard part, because cycle compliance is so easy to defend. Moving off a calendar-based cycle means showing regulators, insurers, and your board what you could have known and what you did. Every unit of work also needs a record of who verified it and why it earned its place in the plan. The record has to hold up across in-house crews and every contractor working on the system.
In this webinar, our panel discusses how utilities and contractors build a credible, defensible vegetation management program that strengthens grid resilience.
